“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a simple step. “
And so began Maharashtra Academy of Engineering and Educational Research's (MAEER) journey in 1983 to become India's most respected and trusted “ Center of Excellence ” in the field of Education and Research.
It was Dr. Vishwanath Karad’s vision and dream to make good quality professional higher education available to the youth of India. The eighties was a period when there were only a few Government run engineering colleges in Maharashtra with limited seats and those failing to secure an admission in these, went to other states for pursuing their education.
Dr. Karad felt the immense need to fill this lacuna.
He toiled endlessly for the improvement of the higher educational sector in Maharashtra. Being an eminent accomplished engineer by qualification, a noble educationist by profession and a teacher of repute, he wrote articles in newspapers about the lack of private players in the field of professional education.
The government authorities were highly impressed by Dr. Karad’s efforts and his proposed plan for MAEER. They granted him permission to establish MAEER and the rest as they say is history…
Today under the aegis of MAEER there are nearly 63 educational and research institutions offering KG to PG education. The expanse of MAEER covers the fields of Engineering Sciences, Medical Sciences, Management Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Marine Engineering Sciences, along with an International Baccalaureate School. MAEER is also at the forefront of spreading the message of peace and spirituality through its most unique institution the “World Peace Centre”.
