SAE Activities
SAE Collegiate Club in MIT has been started in the academic year 1997-98 for the benefit of the students. Due to its activities it has been given a Branch Status in the year 2001 from SAE International. Every year MIT Collegiate Branch arranges various activities through out the year for the SAE student Members such as Industrial Visits, Guest Lectures, Technical and Non Technical Quiz etc. Every year the MIT Collegiate Branch has a main State Level Technical Event called “AXLERATE” which is arranged in Feb/March.

Axelerate'07: (2006-07)
A three day inter-collegiate technical festival aimed at providing a platform for students to showcase their talent and technical creativity; held on the premises of the M.I.T. campus.

AXLERATE is very famous in student community and has an excellent participation from all the engineering colleges in the state of Maharashtra. AXLERATE ‘07, in its past nine years, has facilitated contact between budding engineers and the industry. Attended by more than 1500 students from 70 engineering colleges from across Maharashtra and other states including prominent colleges like VIT, AIT, AISSMS, PICT, Cummins, SIT, COEP, MESCOE, MANET, MITWEC, Walchand College, BVP, D.Y. Patil,RSCOE  etc.

The most attracted event in AXLERATE ’07 was Rally Mania. The other events organized included ‘Product Development’, ‘CAD Wars’, ‘Contraption’, and ‘Paper Presentation’, ‘Gaming Competition’, a guest lecture by Mr. Vijay Mali and Mr. Dilip Bam.

 “AXLERATE ’07 exposed our students to new technologies and brought them nearer to the industry,” remarked Prof. Prakash Joshi, Prof. & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, MIT,Pune.“It is good platform for the young engineers to show their talents & their overall development,” said Mr. Prakash Kamat,Senior GM , John Deere.

The Three Days of  “AXLERATE ’07” consisting of  the following events:

• DAY 1 (23rd  Feb. 2007)
  AXLERATE ’07 took off with great enthusiasm on 23rd  February, 2007. In spite of there being other technical festivals in the city on the same day, AXLERATE ’07 received an enthusiastic response and was a big hit. The first day commenced with the Inaugural function marked the beginning of our three-day fest.  Afterwards, the delegation moved to the parking lot, to inaugurate the track for Rally Mania, the novel event for this year and was followed by various other events like Product Development, CAD Wars, a guest lecture by Mr. Vijay Mali, Chief Operational Officer, CCTech and Gaming Competition, Technical Quiz. Snacks were served to all the participants and they all received participation certificates.Our star attraction for the day was RALLY MANIA Practice Session!!
  
  
• DAY 2  (24th February, 2007)
  Like the first day, day 2 was very eventful and the response was just as enthusiastic. It was a busy day with activities like a, Rally Mania, CAD Wars, Gaming Competition, guest lecture by Mr. Dilip Bam , Non-technical Quiz & and the ever-awaited Contraption.  We also had a display of an actual rally car! It was a lancer, modified with a side grill, converted to a two seater – just like in NASCAR.
  
  
• DAY 3 (25th February, 2007)
  The third day brought the culmination of a very eventful three-day technical fest. Events like Paper Presentation, and the finals of Rally Mania , gaming and CAD Wars competition were held. The Prize distribution marked the finale of  “AXLERATE ‘07”.
