DEPT. OF POLYMER ENGINEERING
Career Opportunities & Placements
Polymeric materials such as plastics, rubbers, fibres, paints, adhesives etc., are gradually replacing conventional materials like paper, wood, glass, metals, cement etc. In fact, polymeric materials have been increasingly used for everything from 'buckets to rockets'. For the past two decades the polymer industry in India has grown by leaps & bounds, encompassing diverse fields such as developments on materials technology, Processing Techniques, machinery, applications research and product design. This has led to a relatively new and specialised field of technical studies known as 'Polymer Engineering'.
A large number of industries for the manufacture of the polymeric materials and for their conversion to finished products have been started in Maharashtra. In view of wide exposure and multidisciplinary nature of BE Polymer Engineering Course, our students find employment in : Polymer Manufacturing, Chemical Industry, Paints Industry, Rubber Industry, Plastics Industry, Adhesives Manufacture. Majority of our students are employed in Polymer Conversion Industry or Polymer Processing Industry.
A large number of students from this department have migrated to USA, UK, Australia and Sweden for higher studies. They are gainfully employed in R&D activities in these countries.
Placement
In view of the large industry segments which the course caters to, placement has been very good. Apart from this, large numbers of students pursue higher studies in India and abroad. The past students of this department are gainfully employed and are holding responsible position in the industry, academia and research organization.
Testing & Consultancy
Department undertakes consultancy for material and process development, mould and die design and composite material development. The department undertakes testing, R&D and consultation work for the industries. Industry-sponsored projects are assigned to the students at the B.E. level.
