DEPT. OF WORKSHOP & PRODUCTION
The Department of Workshop and Production has four spacious shops namely:
- Machine Shop
- Black-smithy Shop
- Carpentry and Fitting Shop
- Metrology Laboratory
All the shops are equipped with quality equipments and have well-qualified and experienced staff to maintain the equipment and impart training to students. The machine shop contains a number of general purpose machines including lathes, milling and shaping machines and special purpose machines such as MITR from HMT and a surface grinder from Praga.
Every student, irrespective of his branch, is taught the right ways of using various hand tools. Also, he gets familiar with the different processes to shape and size the work piece when he moves from one section to another. Meanwhile, he also learns how to work in a group, and how to put forward his ideas, which the core of a healthy society.
Final year Mechanical Engineering students carry out projects in groups and every year different projects are undertaken. To mention a few of them; torsion testing machine, patograph engraving machine, solar energy concentrator, robotic arm, etc.
It is a matter of pride that our department has a well-developed CAD-CAM centre, which trains the students not only from our college, bur also outsiders in CATIA, Uni-Graphics, Ansys, Mold Flow and Stadd-pro. After that, they can effectively handle projects in India and abroad.
