Sourabh magazine is the annual college magazine of Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune. As regards Sourabh has always stood as a medium for the students of MIT to render their talents in the forms of writing, art, design or painting to the larger college audience. It gives them a stage to speak freely on regional, national and international issues and hence keep the readers abreast and alert.
Sourabh Magazine was printed for the first time in 1985-86 and since then it has bettered time and again. The magazine which was once started in a black and white tone has now transformed itself into one of the most vibrant college magazines in Pune, not just in design but also in content. Team Sourabh is one of the most passionate, committed and hard working team on the MIT, Pune campus which works hard to put together this 130 page magazine together with each and every page of it conceptualized, designed and written by the team members. It has become a trend for Sourabh to talk about national and global issues and as a result we here focus our themes based on the need of the nation. In 2009 our issue called "Giving back to Society" stood 1st among competing college magazines in Pune City for the Best Magazine Title given very year by the Pune University. In 2010, we went a step ahead with our issue "Colours of Life" which went on to bag the 1st prize not just in Pune City but in the whole Pune University region among 400 competing colleges.
Apart from writing, Sourabh Team has involved itself with few events and philanthropic activities. Last year Sourabh visited Manavya, an AIDS rehabilitation Centre in Bhugaon to spend some time with those afflicted by it, and spread happiness in the lives of those distressed by the syndrome.
The highlight or special feature of Sourabh is the Interviews of of Achievers from all the fields. One issue which is very close to the heart of Sourabh is language. Its written in English, Hindi and Marathi and every language is given equal importance. It is sad that in the country or otherwise some languages are considered superior by few people and make it an issue of disputation. We believe that language isn't a barrier, it should break barriers and hence work this same thought.
