Course Name: Diploma in Computer Engineering

Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in year 1997 with aim of developing students equipped with knowledge and skills to cope with the needs and challenges of this dynamic field of Computer Engineering. It has a team of high quality full time faculty members engaged in quality research, teaching, learning methodologies and corporate training programs. In terms of infrastructure, Department of Computer Science is one of the best equipped departments in the region and our students are exposed to variety of hardware and software platforms. Fully Networked campus and High speed Internet connectivity gives our faculty and students an edge over their counterparts.

Over the years we have developed a distinct style and method that bridges the theory - practice divide while remaining grounded in the core. Technology changes rapidly, especially in the field of computing, whereas the science, if it changes at all, does so much more gradually. Our understanding is that persons who are clear and thorough about the fundamentals can adapt to rapid changes in technology relatively easily. We want the education imparted to our students to be the basis of a life time of learning.

Learning is a continuous process and does not end with the acquisition of a degree, especially because steady and rapid advances in computing technologies shorten the life of tools and techniques prevalent today. Therefore we do not aim to make our students walking manuals of any language or package. Instead, they are given a strong foundation in computer science and problem-solving techniques, and are made adaptable to changes.

Computer Engineering is a core branch. It gives emphasis on basic knowledge of computer. It covers subjects of hardware, basic understanding of microprocessor like Pentium. While Information Technology branch focuses on software knowledge. It is like a application of computer Engg. So , this branch has many software subjects. Information Technologies have contributed tremendously to the progress of nations over the past couple of decades. Breakthroughs in technology and innovative applications have brought vast benefit to certain sectors and sub-sectors of the economies of a number of countries. Hi - Tech Computer Laboratories
SSPP offers an excellent infrastructure with ‘State of the Art’ Computer Laboratories. All the computer labs with 150 Pcs are well equipped with latest computer configuration, peripherals, software.
The labs are connected with fibre-optic backbone network with the campus network and server-client technology. Two Mbps leased line through ERNET on the campus facilitates high-speed Internet Access throughout the campus. A team of sophisticated network administrator handles an entire network system. Novell Netware 5.1, Windows 2000, Red-Hat Linux 9.0 (Red Hat), MS office XP and Turbo C., Tasm, Oracle 9i Database Server, Visual Studio. .Net series are few of the software which are used for academics and research work.
